A long run, a strength session, an intense match… You enjoy being active, but heavy-feeling legs and discomfort can make the rest of the day less enjoyable. In Cannes la Bocca, Ludiwine Martini welcomes you for a personalised session that takes your activities and how you feel into account.

At a glance: Renata França lymphatic drainage can be considered for lighter-feeling legs, greater comfort and a relaxing break after sport. Studies of other manual lymphatic drainage techniques have also reported favourable effects on some recovery indicators. These findings are encouraging, but they do not establish the same effects for the Renata França method.

Understanding the lymphatic system

The lymphatic system helps return fluid from the tissues to the bloodstream. Its network of vessels and lymph nodes also contributes to immune defence. Movement and muscle activity naturally help lymph flow. Source: NHS, the lymphatic system and movement.

Being active does not mean your lymphatic system needs to be “unblocked”. However, feelings of heaviness or swelling may lead you to seek more comfort. Persistent or unusual symptoms should first be assessed to understand their cause.

Manual drainage is used in some medical settings to help manage swelling, usually alongside measures such as compression and exercise. That setting differs from a wellness session for an otherwise healthy person who exercises. Source: NHS, lymphoedema treatment.

What characterises the Renata França method?

The Renata França method uses dynamic movements, a sustained rhythm and firmer pressure than is usually associated with classical manual lymphatic drainage. It includes specific pumping movements and techniques. Source: official presentation of the method.

With Ludi, pressure and rhythm are adapted to your comfort. A session should not be something you have to endure: mention any sensitive areas, pain or fatigue from recent training. This personalised approach is particularly relevant when your body has already worked hard.

Benefits to look for when you exercise

Lighter-feeling legs

When your legs feel heavy, your aim is often simple: to move more comfortably and feel more at ease.

Lightness is one of the sensations people seek with Renata França drainage. You may notice it after a session, but its intensity and duration vary. It would be excessive to guarantee reduced swelling or identical results at every appointment.

To judge whether the treatment is worthwhile for you, consider how you feel before the session, when you leave and the following day.

Time to relax between training sessions

Goals, schedules and intensity often take up a large part of an active lifestyle. A wellness session offers time to settle down and pay attention to how your body feels.

You do not need to wait for a competition or a particularly tiring period to take this break. You can also book simply because you want to relax, regardless of any performance goal.

More attention to your individual needs

Taking time to describe your fatigue, sensitive areas and expectations helps personalise the session. This conversation is part of your welcome with Ludi. It helps establish a comfortable approach and identify situations where medical advice is more appropriate.

Lymphatic drainage and sports recovery: what does research say?

Encouraging findings for manual drainage

Trybulski and colleagues studied 36 combat sports athletes after an exercise involving the quadriceps. The randomised trial was published online in December 2025 and in a 2026 issue of the European Journal of Applied Physiology.

Compared with passive rest, lymphatic drainage was associated with reduced sensitivity to pressure and lower levels of certain blood markers, including creatine kinase and CRP.

Participants received six 30-minute sessions over 72 hours, and the protocol was not the Renata França method. The study therefore cannot support a promise of the same results after a session with Ludi. Read the trial by Trybulski and colleagues.

An earlier sports medicine review by Vairo and colleagues highlighted the small number of studies and the variety of protocols. Read the 2009 review.

Some manual drainage protocols have produced favourable results after exercise, but a reduction in post-exercise muscle soreness with the Renata França method remains to be demonstrated. The sources cited here also do not support promises of faster race times, injury prevention or accelerated muscle repair with this method.

Your goalWhat can be said
Lighter-feeling legs and relaxationSensations sought during and after a session; their intensity varies.
Post-exercise recoveryEncouraging findings with some manual drainage protocols, which cannot automatically be applied to Renata França.
Less muscle sorenessA specific effect of the Renata França method remains to be demonstrated.
Performance or injury preventionThe cited sources do not support promising these benefits.

Who might consider this approach?

Whether you run, cycle, lift weights, play tennis or exercise recreationally, how you feel matters more than the name of your sport.

Whether you have been out in the Estérel hills or training at a gym in Cannes, the principle is the same: adapt the appointment to your needs, without assuming that one protocol suits everyone.

When should you schedule your session?

There is no scientifically established optimal timing for Renata França drainage around a workout. A quiet day or recovery day can be a practical choice, allowing you to enjoy the appointment without rushing. Tell Ludi about your most recent intense session, your next competition and any particular sensitivity.

Before an important event, it is preferable to have already tried the treatment and know how you respond. Following unusually demanding exercise, significant pain or marked swelling deserves assessment before any massage.

Frequency then depends on your comfort and the value you find in the treatment. There is no need to commit to a course straight away: a first session can help you decide whether the approach suits you.

What happens during a session with Ludi in Cannes la Bocca?

Your appointment begins with a conversation about your expectations, physical activity and health. You can describe areas that feel heavy, your sensitivity and the exercise you have done recently. Ludi then adapts her movements, rhythm and pressure to your comfort, in a setting that respects your privacy.
